As at 1 September 2015, with the introduction of the Justice Legislation Amendment Act 2015, any non-prohibited person who is 16 years of age or over, may participate in paintball gaming on an approved Victorian range without a licence.

This is in reference to traditional, full size, .68 cal paintball markers that travel at ~300 feet per second.

Paintball markers that fire low-impact, .50 cal paintballs, generally known as Miniball or Splatmaster, are suitable for ages 8 and up.
